>> Thursday, September 13, 2018
Have you been having a difficult time getting your proper rest on a nightly basis? Do you know anyone who struggles to get a good night’s sleep? If so, the culprit may be insomnia. But, what exactly is insomnia and what causes it?
The term that is used to describe the situation of not being able to sleep at night is called Insomnia. This condition is especially problematic because in order to function properly during out daily activities we need a certain amount of sleep. It can prove to be most frustrating when you are essentially sleep-walking through your life because you are unable to get the amount of rest and sleep that you need on a regular basis. So, what are two of the most common causes of Insomnia?
1.) Anxiety & Stress
There are many people who are feeling an increasing amount of fear because of financial issues, job instability, health reasons, etc. These stressful situations cause them to continuously think and worry about what they are going to do. Many people lie in bed at night with scenario after scenario running through their mind as they try to figure out how to deal with life’s problems. Our minds can be so busy with all the thoughts and worries that it can ultimately leave us without being able to get the rest and the sleep we need.
2.) Improper Eating Habits - Mainly Sugar
Many people enjoy having a late night snack before they go to bed. Unfortunately, there are quite a few who choose to eat foods such as donuts, cookies or sodas before bed. These choices fill our bodies will sugar and even if you don’t realize it at the time, sugar gives your body a quick boost of energy. While this energy burst can be helpful during the day, it’s not the best thing for a person who is trying to get to sleep. You’ll find that your body has a hard time relaxing and quieting down at the end of the day and you might even find yourself feeling jittery and hyperactive.
Thankfully, these two reasons for insomnia can be easily remedied. If you learn some relaxation techniques, you will soon be able to use them in order to fall asleep more quickly and easily. And, by avoiding sugary snacks, you won’t be faced with the jitters!
